Island has some of the best sport fishing offered in B.C.
Campbell River is known as the ‘Salmon
Capital of the World.’ You can hook into one of these
great fish with the help of one of the many experienced,
professional
guides, and excellent charter companies, operating between
Campbell River and Port Hardy.
The West Coast also offers excellent fishing, but waters
there are less sheltered, being open to the Pacific Ocean
and the swells that occur there. If you prefer calmer waters,
there are many good fishing areas that are sheltered from
the swells of the west coast. Bamfield, Port Alberni, Port
Hardy and Port Renfrew are all considered ‘hot spots’ for
fishing salmon, as well as halibut and other local species.
Catching the ‘Big One’ here on Vancouver Island
is surely a great experience!
Why not try going out on a real west coast salmon boat and
catching your own fish. It can be cooked and eaten right
on board! Wow…what an experience!
