Tour #3 Spend
a day hiking in a forest of trees thousands of
years old! Early morning departure from Nanaimo
and then travel to a paradise discovered! Stop at Nitinat
Lake, popular among wind-surfers because of its
strong and predictable thermal winds.
Visit the First Nations village on the way to
the park. Upon our arrival at the park, we will walk down to the river to
see some of the oldest and largest trees in the
world. This is a truly magical and spiritual
experience!
From our vehicle it is about a 10-15 minute hike
to the developed campsites and the trail that leads
deep into the Carmanah, and a 30-minute walk to
the river on a steep, but well maintained trail.
At the bottom, a boardwalk runs along the creek
in both directions, in an area with little undergrowth.
Farther on, we follow a small path. Spend the afternoon
in this incredible wonderland of ancient moss-covered
giants. Lunch is provided.
