The
capital city of British Columbia, Victoria was originally
established in 1843, as a fort for
The Hudson’s Bay Company. Victoria has always been
known as a city with many British traditions.
The
city boasts ‘double-decker’ buses, horse-drawn
carriages, beautiful gardens, and the age-old tradition of ‘afternoon
tea’ at one of the city’s many tearooms. Shop
for books or antiques in the many quaint shops, take a leisurely
stroll along the inner harbour, with the parliament buildings
as a backdrop: delights for lovely summer afternoons.

Port
Renfrew
The
little seaside village of Port Renfrew, whose population
numbers only 400 people, marks one end of the famous 77
km (48m) West Coast Trail. Every year, the trail welcomes
thousands of avid hikers from all over the world, taking
them to or from Bamfield through some of the most spectacular
scenery BC has to offer.
Stop along the way. Do a little beachcombing along the wide
sandy beaches of the place once known as ‘the Graveyard
of the Pacific’ because of the many shipwrecks in the
turbulent waters, and find a souvenir or perhaps a treasure.
Or you may want to explore and wonder at the dense forests
of massive trees. So many places are worth a really close
look!
